This weekend we loaded up the RV after a little more remodel work, fresh tires and some new paint, and headed to Clear Lake Campground with our friends. It rained all weekend, but we caught plenty of trout, did some walking, swimming, and played games with friends.

PROS

Spacious sites allow plenty of room for the tie-out, and you're definitely not crammed next to other campers

Easy water access from pretty much any site in the developed campground. The lake is pretty flat, so there aren't cliffs or boulders you have to deal with to get to the water

Swimming is easy for the dogs and people. It was a little muddy because it was pouring all weekend, but not terrible considering.

Not busy even on busy weekends. There can be a lot of people there, but with the dispersed camping option, you can usually find plenty of places to go

IMPORTANT: The lake dries up most summers. Ensure to check water level conditions before heading out there for swimming or fishing.

WATCH OUT

Dispersed campers leave garbage everywhere, and do not practice good sanitation. On a previous trip, Cyrus got into HUMAN poop (found out the human part later), and then vomited in the tent. Not a great day.

No designated off leash area You can let the dogs off leash if you head to the dispersed camping, but there's no fenced-in area for them to run

No trail system again, lots of walking through the dispersed area, and there's technically a path around the entire lake, but it isn't well maintained, and you end up walking through people's campsites, fishing spots, etc.
