Dog-friendly pontoon boat rentals! YES. You read that right.
Promontory Park is on the North Fork Reservoir. This stop includes a boat launch and a convenience store that also has pontoon boat rentals (!), and a dedicated launch for non-motorized boats as well. A short walk will take you to Promontory Park Campground, and Small Fry lake, a trout pond for kids under 18.
We like the North Fork a lot for trout fishing. We almost always catch something out here. This is the spot where Callie taught Mollie that we don't fart around on the boat. See video below.
Once you're on a boat, this lake has maybe 1 or 2 spots where the dogs can swim, and they're not very accessible unless you have a flat-bottom boat to be able to pull right onto the shore.
PROS
Dog-friendly boat rentals Seriously. This is a great way to spend an afternoon. Most of them have some sort of shade canopy, so you can just rent a boat and chill on the lake all day.
Close to a campground You're near Promontory Park Campground, which could make for a nice, fun weekend with the puppers.
WATCH OUT
Nowhere for dogs to swim If your dog can't get near the water without getting in, this is not a great spot.
Not much else to do If you're not launching a boat, or getting a rental, there's not a lot to do here.
