If you want crab, or want to drop a boat into Nehalem Bay, or sit and watch the boats go by in the river, this is the place to be. Otherwise, there's not a lot to do here, or within walking distance.

We did take our first official trip in our RV here, so it's got a special place in my heart, but it really is just a marina & fishery. Most of the campsites do have a view of the bay, which is nice. We had a nice time hanging out in the RV. This was Mollie and Luna's first trip together, and they were immediate friends!

There's just not a lot for dogs to do here - there's a short walk you can take out on the jetty, but it's very rocky, and can be difficult with leashed dogs. We walked the railroad tracks, which aren't active, but that was a bit rough with 4 dogs.

Dogs aren't allowed past certain points on the grounds, and it costs extra to have them camp here. I feel like the staff were very welcoming to our dogs, but the owners have clearly either had issues, or are just not dog lovers.

You are certainly within driving distance to some great little coastal towns, including Rockaway Beach, Garibaldi, Nehalem, Manzanita & Wheeler, and a great beach for dogs to run, Manhattan Beach State Recreation Site.

PROS

Water View If you're into just sitting and chilling at your campsite, each one has a pretty great view of the bay

Close to Other Recreation You're a very short drive to a number of great coastal towns, beach access, etc. Good Spot for Crabbing and Bay Boat Launch If you have a boat you want to drop in the bay, this is a great spot for that. You can also crab on the dock, but no dogs allowed down there either.

WATCH OUT

Extra Fees for Dogs Even to camp in an RV

Not a Lot of Activity for the pups. If they need long walks every day and you can't take them out of the park, there's really nowhere to go.

Jetty Walk is Sketchy If your dog is going to pull you on a

walk, do not take them out on the jetty. If they don't have great recall, don't take them out on the jetty. It is an ocean entry point, and tides move quickly. Be aware and only take well-trained dogs.
