Latourell Falls Trailhead

Part of Guy W. Talbot State Park, this is one of my favorite gorge trails. I've been here quite a few times. It's challenging, but only 2 miles, so not an all-day hike, and you get to see two amazing waterfalls.

There are some steep sections, and if you go in the early spring or fall, expect some ice. In the winter, you might not make the trail without spikes.

The beginning of the trail is the spectacular lower falls, so you don't even have to really hike to see it. The trail then winds you through the gorge cliff and takes you to the upper falls, mostly following Henderson Creek.

PROS

Excellent short hike Clocking in at 2 miles, this has some steep sections and is challenging, but totally doable, even if you and your dog aren't in great shape.

Amazing views The waterfalls are awesome, and you get some peeks of the river as well.

WATCH OUT

Drop-offs There are some drop-offs on this trail. You should be ok, but if your dog is a puller, you may want to skip this one

BUSY This place is SUPER busy in the summer. I mean super busy. We always go early, and generally in the spring and fall

Watch for Ice During spring & fall there's ice near the upper falls and in shady spots along the trail. If your dog is a puller, I do not recommend this hike during these times. You likely won't be able to complete the loop, unless you're careful and have good shoes.

Wet When it isn't icy, it's wet in the spring/fall. Be prepared with the right gear, since there are drop-offs.
