This is a great boat launch for motorized boats on the North Fork Reservoir, but there's also a small patch of somewhat sandy beach that's great to spend a warm summer day at.
During the non-summer months, this is nowhere near as busy, and a great spot to get the dogs into the water.
There are also some day-use areas on the other side of the road. If you have a non-motorized boat, there's a cool water tunnel you can kayak through.
PROS
Shallow If you can get there early and get a beach spot, you can just walk right into the water. It's great for kids and dogs to swim.
Calm Water This is a reservoir, so good for dogs that aren't strong swimmers, no current in this area. The day use is a creek, but not swift moving.
Not busy during off-peak times There's usually nobody here if the weather isn't hot except fishermen. Be kind, but if your dog is good with swimming when its cold out, this is a great spot.
Bathrooms They're usually pretty clean for vault toilets too.
WATCH OUT
Busy This area gets VERY BUSY on hot summer days. This is not a good spot if your dog doesn't do well off-leash, or if you just want to pop by.
Kids and Dogs There are a LOT of kids and dogs here during the hot summer days.
Fishermen This is a fishing spot. Be kind to them. If they're there first, don't be that guy and let your dogs in the water.
