Since my niece Lilly was with us, we thought it would be fun to spend a night camping in the RV to beat the heat - the AC in the RV works better than in our house, so why not.

We hadn't been to Promontory's campground, so it was a perfect getaway for a short nearby trip.

They have 1 pet-friendly yome, and 1 pet-friendly cabin, so we can call this a lodging option as well. I couldn't find a day when they weren't booked out for months, but they do exist here!

The spaces are big enough to not feel crowded, but still pretty close together if you have a big group. Some of them have great views of the river, our site (#25) was luckily one of the best in the park for that!

There's a short trail to the marina, a fishing dock, and really cool stations throughout the camp for cooking - electric burners available near the fish cleaning stations so you can cook your food outside, great for those times when fires are banned, or you don't want to stink up your RV with fish, either way. There's also a kids fishing pond that's stocked in the spring.

This park is good for non-motorized boats, the North Fork is excellent for kayaking, SUPs, etc. You have to moor motorized boats at the marina, which is a bit of a walk away, and leave your boat trailer there as well.

PROS

Spacious Sites You're not crowded in, so you're not sitting on top of someone else's dogs or tents

Smaller Campground Only 42 sites total, including the cabins and yomes.

Alcohol-free Campground You shouldn't see people getting super silly.

Shaded Most sites are very well shaded so the dogs can be out.

Free Cooking Areas Great for folks without the 'right' camping equipment to be able to get outdoors!

WATCH OUT

No Water Access For Dogs It's a short walk to the fishing dock, and a bit further to the Marina, but you can't really let the dogs swim at either spot.

No Off Leash Area Not expected, but good to know
