State Capitol State Park

This is a lovely spot to learn more about Oregon's History, see the gorgeous cherry blossoms, fountains, sculptures and native plants.

The State Capitol State Park is just a few blocks in size, but it is very well done, and has plenty of concrete pathways for strolling, and well-maintained grass for lounging. The cherry blossoms were in full bloom on our walk, which was perfect on this spring rainy day.

The park has lots of State-focused tidbits, including in-ground concrete sections that show each county, when it was established, and the location of the county seat, along with the state bird, flower, tree, etc.

There's a really neat WWII memorial with the names of all of the soldiers who passed, and an in-ground interactive map of battle locations with QR codes that take you to a website with more information on each section of the map.

There are quite a few fountains, (none for playing in), and they only operate during late spring/summer. There are lots of neat sculptures to admire.

PROS

Concrete Paths and Maintained Grass Super nice for a stroll when it is raining or sunny.

Interesting Mix of history, sculpture, information, trees, nature, something for everyone, and every dog to sniff.

WATCH OUT

Busy and Public You're going to see lots of people, dogs and kids at this park no matter what time of year you go.
