This is a gorgeous little spot. It does have a day use fee, so it was not super crowded, and there are quite a few things to do here, it makes for a great half day outing. Plenty of parking available, and centrally located to get to everything in the park.
The pathways are well-maintained, and offer a variety of things to see. Walk along the Salmon river and watch the super clear water roll by at numerous spots with water access. There's a small swimming area, but it was a bit cold for Callie, so we skipped swimming this day.
The path will lead you to an underwater fish viewing station, and a ton of secluded picnic sites, so bring a lunch in your backpack. You can also walk from the park to (or from) the Mt. Hood Village Campground, and the reservable group picnic sites.
There's also a boardwalk on the other side of the river with lots of great info on the wetlands, animals and plants along the walkway.
